Sustainable luxury made with love, respect and care
Ernie & Tess is a sustainable clothing brand.
This luxury range uses the highest quality re- and upcycled lace from France paired with organic peace silk and lyocell mix. Fabrics are sourced with great care and garments are currently produced in Copenhagen. Ernie & Tess aim for minimal to zero waste and use organic colouring on the fabrics.
The story behind: Ernest (a harbour worker) and Tessie (a skilled tailor) were married in Malta 1943, during WWII. Tess made her own wedding dress for the occasion as she worked as a dressmaker whilst looking after her three children, with Ernie coming home to help her sew in the evenings after work. They both appreciated fashion and enjoyed dressing up with style.
Ernie & Tess were two loving people who believed in sustainability, hand-me-downs, refurbishing and making things to last. If something were broke, they repaired it. A true example of circular economy, quality workmanship, minimal waste and making the best of their resources at hand.
Later the family immigrated to Melbourne, Australia. Designer Penelope Attard, their Granddauthter, started this brand as a tribute to Ernie & Tess and because of the knowledge they provided. Ernie & Tess believe in slow fashion, equal rights, caring for the environment and minimal waste.
